About Student Visa Application

Applications for The YAMASA Institute are accepted online. If you wish to study at YAMASA, please understand the following points and prepare the necessary documents in advance.

  • The application is divided into multiple parts. Each part requires PDF attachments.
  • PDF attachments must generally be in English or Japanese.
  • Required documents may vary depending on the applicant’s status.
  • Validity of Documents: Documents issued by public institutions or banks must be issued within 6 months of the application date (if applying from outside Japan) or within 3 months (if applying from within Japan).
  • Additional documents may be requested beyond those listed below.

Document & Information Checklist

In the checklist below, indicates mandatory documents, and indicates documents required depending on the applicant’s status.

Part 1: Basic Information

ID Photo
A clear ID photo taken within the last 3 months is required.
Please check the rules on the website: Specifications for Photos | Immigration Services Agency
Passport Copy
Please upload a copy of your passport. If you are in the process of renewing or issuing a passport, you can upload it at a later date.

Part 2: Education, Career & Japanese Proficiency

Degree Certificate / Graduation Certificate
If you hold a degree, please provide proof of the degree. Otherwise, provide your most recent graduation certificate.
Japanese Language Study Certificate
Documents proving your Japanese study history (e.g., certificates from Japanese language schools or online schools).
JLPT / EJU Certificate
Certificates of passing JLPT, EJU, etc., if applicable.

Part 3: Relatives & Financial Sponsor

Bank Balance Certificate
A balance certificate issued by a bank.
Bank Statement (Past 1 Year)
Transaction records issued by the bank or a copy of the bank book.
Certificate of Employment
Certificate of employment or business license (for self-employed sponsors).
Certificate of Tax Payment
Proof of tax payment or income certificate.

*Tuberculosis Screening: From June 2025, nationals of the Philippines, Nepal, and Vietnam are required to submit a “Certificate of Non-tuberculosis” when applying for the Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
