Clynelish - Coastal Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

From Sutherland, this isn't one of my favourites but is a reasonable drop to start off with. Clynelish has an intense gold color. It is very peaty, you can smell the sea. There are hints of fruits and spices and a dry(ish) finish.

Aged 14 years, this is the best whisky from the distillery - apparently the other 99% of their production goes into the Johnnie Walker "Gold Label" product that we don't stock here. The original distillery still exists, but is only used as a warehouse. The brand Clynelish dates from 1819, but the actual distillery is from the 1970's.
