Caol Ila - Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
From Port Askaig on the Isle of Islay, Caol Ila is brilliant. Aged 12 years, this pale golden peated whisky isn't quite as heavy as its neighbours such as Lagavulin, but it has intensity that is surprising and lasts to the finish. The smell is not as pungent as you'd expect from Islay, but you can smell the sea, and there is a smoky spicy flavor to enjoy.
This is the most isolated of the distilleries of Islay and most people get lost finding (or not finding) the place. The remoteness has its disadvantages - it sent the first owner of the distillery bankrupt. At Zig Zag you can enjoy a large dram for a fraction of the price you'll pay elsewhere, so it will probably send me bankrupt too. After a few glasses of Caol Ila with friends though, it seems a small price to pay. Sip slowly. Enjoy.

dancin' around och aye!
hey ho, away we go
we'll dance and drink until we die"
