About Zig Zag - what it is, what it isn't. Nado nado nado.
Howareya! Zig Zag is probably one of only a few Irish bars in Japan where you can get a tasty meal with 2 lovely beers and still have change from 1,000 yen - even if you listen to live music.
Zig Zag is owned and operated by an Irishman. This indirectly has made it the oldest Irish bar in Okazaki City, and one of only a handful of genuinely Irish pubs in Japan. However Zig Zag is not an Irish themed pub, nor is it a "gaijin bar", nor (inexplicably) a whiskey bar. Zig Zag is intended to be primarily a student bar, which is why students (either at the Japanese Language School or anywhere else) pay less than others, and a key reason why the general price level is much lower than establishments elsewhere, including other student bars in Japan.
Everyone is welcome. Party away in whatever language you prefer. There is live music, movie nights, sake tasting, live sports on the big screen, an extensive menu and the cheapest prices in town. Since we opened, we have been expanding the food and beverage menu nearly every week - so please have a look at the latest offerings. The enormous beer list tends to grab the most attention, but amongst other things we also have what is slowly but surely becoming one of the best whiskey selections in Japan. Change is fairly constant here.
Call out "Tadaima" as you enter and make yourself at home. As we value our regulars, Zig Zag is not available for private parties unless outside our regular operating hours. There are no table reservations, no "service charges" - feel free to move about, outside and enjoy the stars on a nice night, and make new friends from around the world. Take it easy.
