A wider view, again from just in front of the Start House. The small hill to the right of screen is Maruyama. The HCJS campus is just on the other side of the hill. Maruyama Baseball Stadium is in the center foreground. the Hokkaido Centenial Memorial Tower is the smudge on the horizon.

From this photo you can get a good idea of how flat Sapporo City is. Ishikari Bay is out to the left of view. The flat plain makes it easy to get around the city during the summer months by bicycle. In the winter it is very icy and slippery, but Sapporo's public transport (centered on an underground rail system built specifically for the 1972 Olympics) makes it fairly easy to travel.
