Ski jumpers waiting their turn at the top of the Okurayama ramp. Temperatures at the top of the stadium change rapidly depending mostly on the wind chill factor. This photo was taken with the air temperature at about 3 degrees celsius (about 37 degrees Fahrenheit), a very mild temperature and very little wind.

The ski jumping suits are not particularly warm. In training there is no real need to wear competition wear (except the cost factor), but since these days there are strict regulations regarding the materials used in the jump suits (to prevent "unfair" advantage to thin ski jumpers wearing air foil suits minimizing drag) most train in the same gear they would use for competition.
