The all important take off point at the base of the ramp. Here you can see the Olympic rings. You can also see how the previous images can, through an optical illusion, give the appearance that the ski jump rises immediately before the takeoff.

During an actual competition, the stands just to the side of the takeoff point are for safety officials and administration. During training sessions such as this, it is usually where coaches stand so that they can analyse the posture, form and style of the ski jumpers. In ski jump competition, points are awarded not just for distance but for style.
