Yamasa requires passport sized photographs from all applicants for legal documents, acceptance letters, student identification cards and certificates. If you are planning to do a homestay at any time during your stay, then we will also need snapshot photos (more below.)
Please do not simply scan your passport - what you need is a new photo, with a white background and
reasonably good resolution. These can be either digital (jpeg or gif files) or analog (printed photos).

If you wish to do a homestay, snapshot photos are needed for the search. Most of the Japanese families participating in the
homestay program request photos - so your chances of finding a homestay are a lot better if you provide photos than if you do
not. The photos can be anything - from family photos to portraits. The most effective photos are those that show your
personality and interests, so photos showing you doing your hobbies, sports etc are appropriate.

1) Please send 1 passport photo as 413 X 413 pixel size (300 dpi preferred but not essential) if possible.
If you don't know how to do this, then any size is OK. Snapshot photos for homestays can be of any size.
2) Save the photograph using your passport number as the file name
(for example if your passport number is K0598181 then save the file as k0598181.jpg)
3) When sending your photo please send the following information as simple text:
Family Name
First Name
Nationality
Passport Number
Name of the Program you are applying for
Commencement Date

If you are sending passport photos by postal mail, please send 4 identical photos as 45mm X 35mm size if possible. Snapshot photos for homestays can be of any size.
For postal mail please address the envelope as follows:

a) On the back of each photo, please write your family name and passport number.
b) Please include a letter/note with the following information:

Name of the Program you are applying for
Commencement Date OR for homestays - write the month from which you would like to homestay if this is different from commencement.
