Search and Search Tips
On (nearly) each page of the site, there is a google search box to help
you find information quicker. The search box supplements the sitemap, and covers the yamasa.org, yamasa.cc, yamasa.tv,
zigzag.cc and okazaki.fm domain names.
To begin a search, enter a query into the search box and hit the "enter" key or click "Find". Google will return
only web pages that contain all the words in your query, so it is easy to refine or narrow your search
by adding addition descriptive words.
Choosing your keywords
When using the search box, please keep the following points in mind:
- Try alternative keywords, using the most obvious (to you) first.
For example if you are trying to determine the availability of your preferred accommodation enter "Vacancies" or
"Housing Availability"rather than "Beds".
- Terminology differs from place to place. For example we frequently receive emails from Singapore asking if we have a hostel. If alternative keywords such
as accommodation,
housing,
apartments,
dormitory etc are used in the search, then the information would be
easily found.
- Capitalization - Don't worry about it. Google will treat all keywords as lower case.
- "Americanisms" - The page is deliberately written to be dialect neutral - for example while the spellings in the English
language version have largely been converted to the North American usage, the grammer and terminology is intended to be
accessible to other native English speakers and to EFL/ESL speakers from other cultures. Similarly the Spanish version is
written with the objective of covering the regional variations in Spanish usage.ie: We have been careful to define words
such as semester, academic quarter, term, module - which can have different meaning depending on your place of origin. Entering
some British English spellings - for example "programme" instead of the American "program" can be interesting - sometimes yielding
a list of links to files in the German and French versions for instance, but on the whole google is reasonably intuitive.
Of course, if you still can't find what you need, or have detailed questions not covered in the
FAQ, then its time to write to us. We have a
large team of caffeine fuelled humans here in Okazaki ready to assist.
