Credit by Examination

The advantage of studying Japanese is of course that your performance can be easily tested. Basically the Japanese faculty at your university or college will have little trouble establishing whether you spent your time in Japan studying or enjoying the nightlife. With Japanese language studies it is usually possible to earn credit by taking and passing examinations (written and oral) given by your college or university's Japanese faculty after your return from Japan. The advantage for the faculty of your university or college is that they can then test you against the curriculum and syllabus in place at your home institution.

This is one of the key advantages in obtaining credit for Japanese language study. The fact that your Japanese language skills are easily testable. If you do well in these exams, your chances of receiving credit are good.

Please note that some universities and colleges will charge you either for the testing and/or the credit.
