Refresher - Facilities

The Refresher course makes use of the Yamasa Institute's heavy investment in facilities in Aoi Hall such as the CALL Seminar center and modern 10BaseT internet connection equipped classrooms for the Private lessons.

CALL Seminar Center

Located on the second floor of Aoi Hall. The room is large, and contains individual workstations (each with privacy of 2 meter deep, 1.48 meter high partitions), is carpeted and air-conditioned and has 4 centimeters of glass wool sound insulation in all walls.

Each of the computers is high-spec, and is connected to our database and video servers through a 100MB LAN. The desks are 120cm X 80cm, and as we provide each workstation with a flatscreen monitor there is plenty of room for books, notes etc - you do not need to restrict yourself only to online and intranet resources.

A CALL Seminar is 50 minutes long, and a member of the OCJS faculty is in the room at all times and for one-to-one conversation practice or assistance with questions concerning the language, as well as any questions concerning the use of the resources. Additional staff are always near at hand, as the OCJS faculty office is conveniently located next door, with a sound proof door so that you are distracted by noises such as telephones etc.

Seminar Classrooms

These modern, large and western style classrooms as for SILAC and other group programs with full access to all amenities. Each class room has free internet access. Students bringing laptops to use during private lessons (for accessing online dictionaries and other resources) will only need a LAN card and short length of ethernet cable. These can be rented or purchased from Yamasa if needed.
