Discovery - Holiday Dates

Public Holidays: Japan has a number of public holidays. The dates listed below are the public holidays that occur on weekdays during the teaching schedule. Public holidays that fall on weekends have not been listed. The only exceptions are the short break in August (the Obon festival) and the New Year Holiday (includes both Yamasa holidays and Public Holidays) Please note that public holidays only affect the scheduled study component, they do no affect tour dates.

April 2003 to March 2004 Academic Year:

Holidays during the program. Saturdays/Sundays are always holidays and so are unlisted

APRIL/29 - Green Day
MAY/05 - Children's Day
JULY/21 - Ocean Day
AUGUST/13-15 - Bon Festival
SEPTEMBER/23 - Autumn Equinox
OCTOBER/13 - Taiiku Day
NOVEMBER/24 - Labor Day
DECEMBER/23 - Emperor's Birthday
JANUARY/1-4 - New Year
JANUARY/12 - Coming of Age Day
FEBRUARY/11 - Constitution Day
MARCH/21 - Spring Equinox
