Discovery - Applications

Once you have read everything on this page, especially the sections regarding deadlines, have checked your status re visas and guarantors, and have chosen your preferred accommodation options, schedule and so on, you are ready to apply.

Applications can be completed online, although the documents required for the student visa need to be completed via courier or post.

The Enrollment Procedure changes a little depending on whether you need a student visa or not. If at any stage you do not know what to do next, or if you have any questions concerning either the enrollment process or the Institute and its programs, please do not hesitate to contact the Director of the International Office, Mr. Declan Murphy at admissions@yamasa.org

If a Student visa IS NOT required.

1. Select the dates/schedule that suits your needs best. Check application deadlines/program availability.
2. Select the student housing options that suit your needs best. Check housing availability.
3. Re-Check visa requirements and read the information regarding guarantors.
4. Complete Online Application Form for Discovery.
5. Send your photographs as required. (Passport photos only unless you are doing a homestay)
6. Check by email that your application has been accepted. (Usually Yamasa will contact you first).
7. Confirm your position in the program via a deposit or tuition fee transfer. (If homestay - you need to pay tuition in full)
8. Ensure that you have completed the tuition fee transfer before the deadline. If not, contact Admissions
9. Yamasa will send you your Letter of Acceptance and additional documents.
10. If you need to apply for a visa, contact your nearest Japanese diplomatic office.
11. Book a flight and inform Yamasa of the flight details. (Pickup service is for Nagoya Airport only)

Note from admissions@yamasa.org - If you have any questions about applying, or need extra advice, please feel free to contact us at Admissions - we will usually be able to reply to your email within 24 hours.

Note 1: If you are applying for a homestay - please note that the program application should be made AT LEAST 2 months in advance. For students requiring a student visa, there is no requirement to submit program fees until the visa is officially confirmed. However students who DO NOT require the visa are advised that the homestay search does not commence until Yamasa can confirm that tuition fees have been remitted. As homestays can be difficult to obtain sometimes, please send proof of tuition payment as soon as possible.
