Winter is an excellent time to visit Okazaki. The climate is mild and snowfalls are light. The bitter cold of Kyoto or Tokyo is avoided, but the winter festivals, culture and atmosphere are enjoyed by all. Trips into the nearby Southern Alps are easily arranged so that you can go skiing, snowboarding, or sightseeing in the snow country. Less people study at this time of year, so class sizes tend to be smaller and accommodation less heavily booked. However the popular homestay option is harder to supply due to the festivals and holidays - so very early bookings are advised.
