Let's Sumo!
(Partly finished page as my birthday present to Lady C on July 19, 1999)

I always say that for Sumo, guys hype up the pre-game so much that it is often too disappointing to see the real confrontation cannot last long at all.

This is our first time to attend a Sumo tournament.  We finally made it to the Nagoya Stadium after being lost a few times as we were too busy chatting while riding the tube.

Then we were distracted by a lot of figuratively speaking bigger than life size Sumo Wrestlers, from whom we picked one to take pictures with.

Three of us were quite lucky in the Stadium, first we decided to gamble by sitting at the hundred dollar red cushioned seats (although we purchased the 30 dollar ones).  Then the family from the next booth offered beer, snacks and even stacks of bento.

And when we were kicked out, while we were roaming around, we were hosted by a group of half drunken businessmen.  Beer started to be free flowing again.

The party was not over yet even when we planted ourselves in the Cheap Seating Zone.  We were next to a group of Hawaiian spectators who claimed to know Akebono personally.  Even the tall graduate student of Physics at Nagoya University who happened to vending souvenirs for pocket money had a ball selling stuffed toy to our male friend.

As short as the sumo confrontation could still be, the game became more and more interesting.  Beer can do that to people.

I have more to tell but run out of time.  If you want to know, please check back some time.
