By popular demand, this is now available in English and Japanese. We will slowly work towards other languages starting with Korean and Chinese, but at present we don't have the staff to arrange all the translations. If you want to get this in Japanese, and are reading it in English, then please register your name, email address and preference for language on the request form at:

The Omikoshi on Friday last week was a great success - thanks to all of the 91 students, teachers, staff and friends who turned up and made the whole evening. Thanks especially to everyone who spent the afternoon making the float. Transport turned out difficult - next year we will probably hire a couple of buses to make sure that everyone can get there easily. Sorry to everyone who had to wait to get back, and thank you very, very much to all the teachers who collected their cars and drove people to the party afterwards!

This week's features: the interview - David Lee who has been on the Acceleration program for the last three months gives an insight into the most intensive Japanese language program you are likely to find anywhere; a brief look at the fireworks in Okazaki and the history of the event; and the usual askance look at Japan through the eyes of a gaijin. (Please note that it is just that!)

New SILAC dates are now online: see the SILAC file in the Program Catalog for details.

NEW HOMEPAGE READY SOON! The new homepage will be launched in English from September 1st, we hope. Korean and Chinese will follow in the months after.

LONG-TERM COURSES:

Student Visa: The next student visa is for study from April 2001. Application deadline is December 20th. Apply online for your application kit. http://www.yamasa.org/acjs/english/programs/application.html

SHORT-TERM COURSES:

SILAC:
* August 17th program: Finalised.
* August 31st program: Vacancies (Accommodation: Hotel, Student Village, Villa).

Acceleration E (October 5th): Vacancies, but accommodation limited. Contact admissions@yamasa.org as soon as possible for information.

AIJP/AJSP: Autumn course starts October 5th - All accommodations have vacancies but book now as we have a lot of people coming. If you want a particular room, then you will need to book early.

Discovery: Bookings for courses I (October 11th) onwards being taken.
