I knew the basics of fashion drawing, I knew what I wanted to teach, how I liked the course to be structured... With an almost audible 'ping', a bright idea sprang to mind.

But how to get started? I needed space to teach, students, help with the language etc. So I went looking for Declan Murphy, the Director of the Institute's International Office and a long term Okazaki resident.

Declan isn't hard to find. I went to his office one rainy thursday evening well after office hours, and sure enough - I found him peering out from under a stack of paper, surrounded by computers, cables, junkfood, and a disturbing number of coffee cans...

I said: Declan, I want to teach fashion drawing.
He said: Ok, that shouldn't be a problem.
I said: But what do I do? Where can I teach? Where can I find students?

...and that's how I first came in contact with Nob Gallery.

Initially, I was hoping that I could to use a Yamasa classroom, slap in a couple of people, preferably Japanese and start teaching.
