You
should see these decorative plates on the pavements in Nagoya. It
showed directions to various main attractions, although I have no clue
why a Kuala Bear was there other than it was considered to be cute.
Japanese love cute things.

And then there were these beautiful ceramic tiles that were hand painted individually before they were fired. Obviously there must be a design contest or campaign which called for submittals from various artists, since the tiles appeared to be grouped with different themes, each theme with a different style.
