Introduction:

The Yamasa Institute is seeking an experienced professional to join the International Office in a senior management role assisting the Director of the International Office. The Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Supervising the operations of the International Office and the Admissions section,
  • Building quality assurance into the Admissions Selection Process,
  • Providing a key advisory role in the management and policy formulation of both the ACJS and OCJS,
  • Supervising the development of yamasa.org content in line with the language neutrality policy,
  • Ensuring customer focus is maintained.

    The position will commence from March 1st, 2004.

    Computer Skills:

    The Coordinator will have a full time technical support team, excellent IT facilities and a high degree of autonomy. You do not need to have extensive computer experience - but you will be able to receive expert training if you do need to feel comfortable using the internet, intranets, office software and bulletin boards.

    Education Background:

    The Coordinator should have as a minimum a Bachelor's degree or higher. You should have fluency in conversational Japanese and as a minimum a Level 2 pass in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. You should be a native or near native speaker of English, it would also be useful if you also have some conversational fluency in one or more of Chinese, German, Korean or Spanish.

    Travel:

    The Coordinator may need to travel both inside Japan and abroad to conferences and for liaison with strategic development partners including universities and technology firms. Such travel would usually be for 5-10 days.

    Salary and Conditions:

    Salary will be determined according to background and experience. Visa sponsorship is available. Suitable accommodation can be arranged on request. This bonus is payable after the completion of 3 months. A performance based bonus would be payable after completion of 12 months. Suitable office space will be provided and the daily schedule includes a flexitime option.
