We traded marine products with companies in Canada. Did you start as a beginner? Yes I was a complete beginner. I started with a i u e o... What had you studied before? In Taiwan, I studied accounting at Feng-Chia University. Then I went to Brisbane in Australia to study Business for two years. Then I went back to Taiwan to work for almost 5 years so coming to Yamasa was a change. How long have you been at Yamasa? I have been here for 3 months now. Is this the first time you have lived in Japan? Yes, but not the first time in Japan. I went to Tokyo and Kyoto two years ago to do some sightseeing. What are you plans after graduation? I'll go back to my hometown in Taiwan for a rest, and then I'll start looking for a new job in Taipei.
I live in one of the studio apartments in Yamasa Villa. What is your accommodation like? Very comfortable and private, I could have everything in my room as there's plenty of space. The best thing is that I am living by myself. That is important for me. How do you get to classes? I come to the campus on a bicycle. It takes me about 5 minutes or so. I rented it from Nonoyama bicycle shop for 1000 yen per month. What is the biggest challenge or problem you've faced so far in Japan? I don't understand anything on TV such as news and drama programs. This sometimes makes me upset as I like watching TV! Any surprises you would like to share? Everything is more expensive than I have ever imagined. But it is still a lot cheaper than Tokyo which is good. If a new student was entering your class today and asked for some advice, what would you say? Try your best to make friends here, talk to people, and take good care of yourself.
