Located in front of the Yamasa Villa III & IV studio apartments, Yamasa Villa 2 is a single-story building with eight bedrooms and shared facilities. These 8 rooms are close to the campus (Only 8 minutes walk, by bicycle only about 5 minutes), and are currently reserved for female students studying in academic programs for 3 months or longer. Each room is furnished for single occupancy, and these single rooms are the cheapest available in Yamasa's accommodation portfolio.
Location: As well as being close to the campus, Villa 2 is also close to shops, restaurants, supermarkets and bus-stops. Villa 2 is also at the closest accommodation location to the JR Okazaki Railway Station (on the main line between Tokyo and Osaka and so are the most convenient for getting out of town to see the sights of central Japan.) Coin laundry and common areas: There are two western style toilets and a separate bathroom with a deep Japanese style bath with shower heads. Yamasa has a coin laundry facility next to Yamasa Villa 2. (This has lower prices than most of the local commercial laundromats). Students living in Yamasa Villa 2 can use this laundromat as well as the recreation room (air-conditioned/heated) that students often use for group study (or as a party venue). For drying clothes on rainy days, the building has a covered balcony.
The best place to park bicycles is in the shelter at Yamasa Villa 3&4 about 20 meters away. This area is safe and secure but we do advise you to chain lock the bicycle. There is a large amount of parking space and there is no charge for parking.
Telephone and Internet: There is no telephone provided inside the building, students will need to obtain a lease or rent a line to get connected - Yamasa will assist you if you need a telephone line installed in your room. Most students prefer to use the cheaper option of handheld cellular phones. There is a public telephone (international calling enabled and with data jacks) at Yamasa Villa 3 & 4 (20 meters away) For internet access, purchasing or renting a PHS card for a wireless connection is usually the cheapest option.
Futons: Futons are not provided, so for bedding please browse through the futons file.
Advantages reported by students: You can have a bath - by comparison the village is showers only. Close to campus and route 248. Although the kitchen is shared, you have your own refrigerator. Good study environment. Large amount of personal space per student. Low cost.
Disadvantages reported by students: No wheelchair access. For internet access the PHS card is reasonably fast but not as quick as the LAN in the student village and much more expensive. Plus you need to pay for an account, whereas the LAN access at the student village and on campus is free.
