After the closing down of Yamanaka in July 2005, the supermarket closest to Yamasa is Seiyu along Route 248. By bicycle, Seiyu is about 5min away from the Yamasa II building, walking takes about ten minutes. There are ATM machines of the UFJ Bank (formerly Tokai Bank) and the Okazaki Shinyouginkou, a McDonalds, a Sugakiya chain restaurant, a 100 Yen Shop on the third floor and of course a full range of food and other groceries, stationery etc. It is usually open until 10pm (depending on the time of year), so the supermarket basically serves as one big convenience store for Yamasa's students.
