Technical/Science Background

Many (though by no means all) of Yamasa's students have a technical or science background that makes our campus a little atypical of most language learning communities. There are a large number of engineers, chemists, physicists and others with 'technical' backgrounds. Angela Chou, a chemistry major from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) studied in the AIJP after being granted a Yamasa Institute Scholarship. After her course she entered a long term internship in Japan organized via MIT's Japan Program. Jorg Schuler, a graduate student in physics from Karlsruhe University in Germany, joinged Yamasa for intensive conversation lessons in the SILAC program. He is now completing postgraduate studies in Europe.
