Location: Although they are the furthest from the campus as the crow flies (1.5 km / 0.9 miles), they are close by bicycle, and free parking is also provided. The apartments are also very close to shops (Feel News Shopping Center), restaurants, supermarkets, parks, ponds, and bus-stops. There is a 24-hour convenience store about 7 minutes (500 meters) walk away. If you are looking for convenience for getting out of town to see the sights of central Japan, these apartments are a 10 minute bicycle ride from JR Okazaki Railway Station which is on the JR Tokaido Line (the main trunk route linking Osaka - Kyoto - Nagoya - Shizuoka - Tokyo) and gives you excellent access to Nagoya, Kanayama, Mikawa-Anjo, the marina/onsen resort of Gamagori on Mikawa Bay and Toyohashi. Clickable Location Map: Click here for location map (45326 bytes). Click the black arrows on the left of the map for route to Yamasa's campus or to navigate around the local area. Click on shops, and other features on the map for more detail. Description: The apartments are known as 3DK, three rooms and a large combined kitchen and dining room. Two of the rooms have tatami floors and are ideal for bedrooms. The third room has a polished wood floor which is intended for use as a lounge room. The rest of the apartment flooring is vinyl. The balcony from the lounge room and main bedroom give these apartments a bright spacious ambience. The space of each is 48.17 square meters (approximately 521.23 square feet). Each has a separate western style toilet and a
separate shower and bath.
They have air-conditioning and heating, and several large large cupboards in the bedrooms and loungeroom,
and a unit kitchen.
The kitchen has a reasonably large amount of room for food preparation. Yamasa provides a refrigerator,
2 jet gas range/cooker
and an electric rice cooker, frypan, saucepan and kettle.
Please note that utensils (chopsticks, knives etc) are not provided, but can be purchased cheaply at nearby stores.
In the lounge room Yamasa provides
a TV, bookshelf, and 2 desks, chairs, and study lamps.
Floor Plan: Click here for dimensions and floor plan Laundry facilities: Because there is no coin laundry available on-site, and because local coin laundries are considered too expensive, Yamasa has installed a washing machine in every apartment for student use. At this stage we are unable to also provide a dryer, though all of the apartments have a covered balcony off the lounge room. There is also a bicycle shed. Free car parking is available. Telephone and Internet: There is no telephone provided inside the apartment, students will need to obtain a lease or rent a line to get connected - Yamasa will assist you if you need a telephone land line installed in your apartment. The nearest public telephone is at the convenience store. This telephone is for domestic calls only and doesn't have datajacks. Most students use cellular phones instead. For internet, the apartments have a fiber optic connection. You will only need some ethernet cable. Futons: Futons are not provided, so for bedding please browse through the futons file. Please note that beds are not provided as futons are placed directly on the tatami flooring.

Advantages: More independence and privacy - your own bathroom. Convenient to have own kitchen and no need to wait. Quiet at night. Good study environment. Multiple rooms with doors makes it easier to keep the main room warn during the winter. Insulation is better than Yamasa Villa. There is a large amount of personal space per student, particularly for storage and furniture. Disadvantages reported by students: No access to internet via Yamasa's LAN. PHS card access is reasonably fast but not as quick as LAN and much more expensive. Plus you need to pay for an account, whereas the LAN access at the student village and on campus is free. No wheelchair access. No microwave oven on site. Some people don't like tatami flooring as you usually sleep with the futon on the floor not in bed. Student Interviews - Residence L 3DK Residents:
