Spend your summer studying Japanese in Japan. In 2010, Yamasa continues to provide more multi-level Japanese summer school options than any other accredited school.

In 2010 we are also introducing exciting new options and opportunities:

  • SILAC Plus & AIJP Plus, enhance your learning experience with extra classes in shamisen, Japanese cooking, ceramics with a master craftsman, yosakoi dance and more, plus field trips to "off the beaten path" locations that are not accessible by train.
  • New monthly start dates for Acceleration (maximum class size 8), and new length options for our ultra intensive immersion course for College Study Abroad, the University Japanese Program - a small group based, 7-9 week acceleration module for students seeking to comfortably cover *more than* 1 year of college level Japanese this summer. This is Boot Camp for serious students of Japanese.
  • An expanded version of the groundbreaking Japanese for Business & Professional Purposes intensive course combined with an summer internship in Japan. Invest in your future and master keigo & situational Japanese with the JBPP faculty.
  • An expanded version of the flexible & innovative Japanese Language & Culture Summer Program. From sushi to sumo, sake to shoudo!

    Quality and individual attention are the key considerations at Yamasa - however our flexibility is also increasing unmatched. Choose a program or combination of program that suit your needs and schedule - if you are unsure of which program to choose, please write to us. Please note that early application is advised.

    Okazaki offers superb teacher:student ratios, more choices, more levels, more flexibility, more classes per week, more facilities. More bang for the buck. The popular Mt Fuji Climb will take place July 23rd/24th. Local events include the spectacular "Fireworks Festival", the o-mikoshi and various street festivals. The location in central Japan halfway between Kyoto and Mount Fuji, halfway between Tokyo & Osaka is unbeatable for travel. Our Japanese summer courses offer the best time to splash at Goza Beach or surf the Atsumi Peninsula, climb Mt Fuji, enjoy the Gion Festival in nearby Kyoto or the Fire Festival in Nachi, and many other destinations with Nara, the Grand Shrines of Ise, Hikone & Takayama etc all close by.

    ACADEMIC:

    University Japanese Program: The maximum size of each class is 8 students. Each student also has a personal advisor, and will receive weekly private one-to-one tutorials throughout the program. Excellent faculty and modern facilities (interactive whiteboards and advanced CALL labs etc) are in use. There are two start dates available, June 17th and July 1st and the program can be completed on August 6th, 19th or 25th. This intensive Japanese summer school provides more than 50% more classes and tutorials than offered by most university programs in a full year, and the program also includes 3 interesting field trips.     Japanese for Business & Professional Purposes: Study length is available from 2 weeks to a maximum of 8 weeks. The maximum size of each class is 6 students. Interactive whiteboards and superb facilities are in place. All teachers have Master's degrees and are highly experienced.
    Applicants will need to have a Japanese proficiency level equivalent to JLPT3 or higher. A 2 week preparation module is also available. Click here for more information

    AIJP - Summer Quarter - You can start a 3 month immersion in Japan or commence longer term studies. For serious students of all levels - the Academic Intensive Japanese Program provides graded levels in July 2010 from absolute beginner to JLPT Level 2. More intense than most long term programs with 20 core classes per week plus up to 4 electives. Click here for more information

    AJSP - Summer Quarter. For advanced students of Japanese only, this program starts from JLPT Level 2 and rapidly moves higher. The course duration is from 3 months to 1 year. If you are thinking of professional or Postgraduate studies, this course is the best for you. The 20 core class/4 elective class per week program with small class sizes and individual attention takes you to very advanced levels of proficiency. Click here for more information

    CONTINUING EDUCATION:

    Japanese Language & Culture Summer Program: Enabling you to experience traditional and modern Japanese culture in a very hands on way. this flexible course combines Japanese language studies (beginner to intermediate), with the opportunity to use your Japanese as you encounter a wide range of cultural activities and people to give you an insight into contemporary Japan. Starting each Wednesday and available from 2 to 12 weeks in duration, it provides the opportunity to experience Cormorant fishing, the Gion Festival in Kyoto, traditional arts & modern manufacturing robots, world heritage sites, and the chance to speak to Japanese people about their passions and interests.     Japan Discovery Program - Study Tours: Coming to Japan for the first time? Why not try a flexible study tour involving 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 weeks of customizable classes (small group or private lessons) combined with a small group adventure tour discovering the real Japan.
