The SILAC program is taught using weekly modules. You need to enroll in a minimum of 4 modules (ie the minimum program length possible is 4 weeks.) You can study for 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 weeks. It is also possible to enroll for an initial 4 weeks and then extend. As mentioned in the introduction, there are start dates all year round to choose from. Start dates are usually on a Thursday, so that you can arrive on a weekday with support from Yamasa's staff (airport or train station pickups, accommodation transfer etc). Even if you are a beginner, you can commence on any start date. For more information about the start dates, see the program dates file for the schedule and the Minimum Entry Requirements. SILAC is taught at all levels from absolute beginner to intermediate. Yamasa's SILAC program is virtually the only program in this country offering this sort of flexibility, and is the only program in this country offering this many levels - especially for beginners - for short intensive studies. Definitions: Yamasa's definition of intermediate is a point between Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) levels 3 and 2. Approximately equal to a score range of 210-240 at Level 2. We understand of course that since the JLPT is currently only available once per year, then it is likely that your level will shift substantially before you arrive. For this reason we ask you to please scroll through the curriculum and sample test questions to get an idea of the course level. Before you do so however, please read through the class formats.
