Study/Accommodation Cost Calculator

As you can see from the table above, it is considerably cheaper (especially for longer term stays) if you pay all tuition in advance. This is because the administrative costs are lower, and these cost savings are passed onto you. If you pay for 6 weeks or more in advance and then need to shorten your stay, there is a full refund subject to the policies outlined in the "Refunds" file.

1) There are several discounts available. Only 1 discount can be used per enrollment.

  • Re-enrolling students (Yamasa alumni) receive a 20% discount on tuition.
  • 10% discount is available for tuition payments completed 16 weeks prior to enrollment, JET Program participant, or for students with a working holiday visa.
  • 5% discount is available for tuition payments completed 12 weeks prior to enrollment.
  • Students enrolling via the studyabroad office of their college or university may receive a 10% discount on tuition.

    "SILAC Plus" Tuition fees:

Option A: Customized lessons - Either Private lessons or Computer Aided Language Learning (CALL) Seminars.

You can choose either "Private lessons only", "CALL Seminars only", or any mixture of the two option up to a maximum of 5 per week. The customized classes start the day after you commence, and are completed on your final day of classes. These classes are provided at a subsidized low cost. Private lessons are 3300 yen per class. CALL seminars are 1600 yen per class. Use the Study Cost Calculator to work out your preferred choice &/or combination. These classes are scheduled from either 13:40pm or 14:40pm on weekdays and are scheduled so that they do not clash with your elective classes. Option A students are also able to do Options B and C.

Option B: Field trip - Offered at the end of each academic quarter.

Each field trip is conducted in a small group (usual maximum number of participants is 10 per qualified teacher and guide), from the day after classes finish. You can choose either 3 days (38,100 yen) or 5 days (68,000 yen). Option B students are also able to do Options A and C.

    Option C: Culture Seminars.

This option includes "hands on" Culture seminars such as music (learning to play shamisen), traditional cooking techniques, dance, ceramics and other courses. Each course is held twice a week from 3:40pm for 2 hours each time. The courses run for 6 weeks, and are held once per quarter, participation fee is 37,800 yen. Available for beginners to advanced. Option C students are also able to do Options A and B.

NOTE 1: For visa information, please read carefully through the visa requirements section.

NOTE 2: There is no application fee if you apply online. If you apply via paper based application form, fax or telephone, the application fee is 10,500 yen. No payment is required prior to your application being accepted.
