Studies of 6 weeks or less
By Declan Murphy, Director - International Office
If you are unable to spend more than six weeks in studies, there are still a wide range of options available to you. These include...
Discovery Program (Study tour)
This is an intensive Japanese communication skills/conversation program that includes 2 and 4 week study length options
(plus 6, 8, 10)
combined with an adventure tour (you can select a tour 3, 5, 8, 10 or 12 days in duration) that will introduce you to a wide sampling of
both traditional and modern Japanese culture. The tour will also allow you to explore areas of Japan that
usually can't be reached by public transport. The program is best suited for language travellers, beginners in the
language or first time visitors to Japan.
SILAC - Short Intensive Language Acquisition Courses
This is an intensive Japanese communication skills/conversation program that
includes 4 and 6 week program lengths (plus 8, 10, 12). It is offered all year round and
has 15 (seminar) or 23 (usual/standard) classes per week depending on your level. The program is best suited for
people wanting to rapidly improve their conversational fluency.
Refresher Course
The Refresher Course is an ultra-flexible low cost program that leverages Yamasa's modern ACJS facilities, the
OCJS's high tech CALL Seminar Center, and private or semi-private lessons in Aoi Hall to provide a 15 class per
week course from 1 to 6 weeks that can be commenced on ANY weekday of the year with the exception of public holidays.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are less expensive than many think, and you can START ANY DAY except on Sundays and Public Holidays.
The schedule and curriculum is designed by faculty with you to provide a fully customized program.
C.A.L.L. Seminar
If you are really short of time, this seminar will provide a very flexible option. Unlike the
SILAC and
Discovery programs,
you can START ANY DAY except on Sundays and Public Holidays and study from as little as 2 days up to 50 days. You can also
customize the program length and intensity - study from 2 to 8 hours per day.
There is full transferability between CALL and other Yamasa programs - so like the Refresher Course its good way to start.
