Internships - Class Formats

The study component uses the JBPP curriculum in order to bring about the greatest possible improvement in proficiency as quickly as possible. This is a very intensive, full-time format involving 25 class per week modules, each of which are 2 weeks long. The maximum class size is 6 students, but frequently we deliver the program with less. It is possible to complete the JBPP curriculum in 6 weeks (8 weeks if you make use of the preparation course), and when you successfully complete the 150 hours of instruction (not including time for preparation, homework, assignments and review) you will have almost no linguistic difficulties operating in a Japanese language speaking business or other professional environment in Japan.

Key points:

  • All classes commence at 9.00am and finish at 2:30pm. Each class is 50 minutes long with 10 minute rest breaks between each class.
  • All lessons are conducted entirely in modern contemporary standard Japanese.
  • The program fee includes all tuition, learning materials, seminars and field trips.
  • All lessons, seminars and role play exercises are video recorded to improve feedback and review.
  • All participants in the program receive individual attention from highly qualified and experienced advisors.
  • All instructors have Masters degrees, are full-time, have a minimum of 4 years teaching experience including a minimum of 2 years in Japan.

Participants in the program are advised to bring a computer with them (PCs may also be rented), interactive whiteboards are in use, and additional learning support is provided via Yamasa databases and online learning systems. The classrooms are modern, and tea and coffee is available in the classrooms (designed as offices, with telephones installed for use in the exercises etc). Some business experience (either in Japan or in your own or a 3rd country) is helpful, but is not a pre-requisite for participation in the program.
