Internships - Class Formats

The program is being offered in two (2) formats. The reason we are using 2 formats is to offer you the opportunity of customizing the curriculum to your needs to ensure faster learning and more challenging classes.

(1) Option A: This format is for 12 private classes per week.

The schedule for private classes will be provided to you shortly before your program begins, but you will have 2 or 3 classes each weekday. not commencing prior to 9.00am and finishing no later than 3:30pm. Classes are 50 minutes long and are usually taught in contiguous blocks with 10 minute rest breaks between each class. There is some scope for changing the schedule to suit your preferences, provided teaching team and classroom availability can be assured.

(2) Option B: The SILAC format is for 23 classes per week, with a maximum class size of 15 students - 5 students less than the maximum class size required by the regulating body, the APJLE. (click here for more information on class sizes.)

In this format classes start at 9.00am and finish at 2.30pm from Mondays to Thursdays. On Fridays the classes are from 9.00am to 11.50am.

(3) Option C: The "Acceleration" format is for 28 classes per week, comprising 23 SILAC classes and 5 discounted private lessons. The private lesson content is decided by you in consultation with your teachers, so if you need specific preparation (for example business Japanese or other Japanese for special purposes) this is a good way to achieve customisation.

Acceleration format classes use the same schedule as SILAC, with your private lesson scheduled to start at 2.40pm for a 3.30pm finish. If you prefer to take a one or two hour break between the end of your group class and the beginning of the private lesson this can usually also be arranged.
