Discovery - Texts/Study Materials

At Foundation and beginner level, the main texts being used are the Minna no Nihongo series. Kanji knowledge is not a pre-requisite.

At intermediate levels and above are not decided upon until after the faculty have completed proficiency testing at the start of each module. This is so that they can select texts that can match the strengths and weaknesses of the students, so it will depend very much upon the level and Kanji background of the students who apply. The intermediate texts will require you to be able to read at least 300-350 Kanji.

Group classes - SILAC or Acceleration Formats:

    Foundation Level:
Main Text - Minna no Nihongo Series Book I.

    Beginner Level:
Main Text - Minna no Nihongo Series Book II.

    Pre-Intermediate and above:
Main Text - Decided after placement testing: New Approach Series (Kiso / Kansei), Theme Betsu Joukyuu, Kokkyou wo koete, Joukyuunihongo. Grammar texts include Kanzen master ikkyuu / nikyuu

Elective Classes:
    Decided on by academic advisor
CALL Seminar Classes: Private Classes:
In the case of private classes the texts are decided by you in consultation with your teachers. Bringing your own preferred textbooks is also no problem.
