AIJP - Program Holidays

The AIJP is an intensive program. Even so, you do get to take a break from the books every now and then. There are no weekend classes scheduled. Longer term students can also enjoy the term (quarter) breaks and the Obon break.

Breaks between Quarters & Obon Festival Break

Spring Break 2011: MAR/26-APR/04
Summer Break 2011: JUN/25-JUL/04 (Not applicable for "AIJP Summer Session" participants)
Obon Festival 2011: AUG/12-15
Autumn Break 2011: SEP/24-OCT/03
Winter Break 2011-12: DEC/17-JAN/09
Spring Break 2012: MAR/24-to be confirmed

Program & Public Holidays*:

Spring 2011: Golden Week MAY/4-8
Summer 2011: Obon Festival AUG/12-15
Autumn 2011: None
Winter 2012: None

*Japan has a large number of public holidays. Due to the disruption that frequent public holidays can have on the teaching schedule (affecting preparations for exams such as the Japanese Language Proficiency Test etc) Yamasa has its own schedule. For the most part the public holidays have been moved into the breaks between quarters, with the only exceptions being those holidays where family committments on the part of the faculty make it impossible to reallocate the holiday, such as Golden Week and the Obon festival, which is observed. (Obon is observed in Aichi Prefecture with about the same importance as Christmas or Easter is in western countries).
