The low cost location, non-profit status and long-term financial support provided by the Hattori Foundation enables Yamasa to provide the programs at cost price to international students. The tuition fees below do not quite cover the cost of providing the program, but support from the Hattori Foundation enables the center to provide the Acceleration formats. Due to persistent deficits, there was a small increase in fees (approximately 3.7%) in April 2006, the first fee increase since 1999. Tuition fees below are through to March 2010. A) Application Fees: Currency Conversion
Please click here for important information regarding Application Fees. B) Fees for Format 1 If enrolling in Yamasa for 6 months or more it is possible to switch between the Acceleration program and other Academic programs (Academic Intensive or entering Advanced Japanese) at the end of each quarter - so the fee structure here is calculated on a quarterly basis.
B) Fees for Format 2 If you do not have time to study long term, then it is possible to study using a tanki-taizai (tourist) or other short term visa and enrol in the Acceleration program for 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 weeks in Format 2, or for 3 months in Format 1.
Notes for student with student visas: (1) If you are planning to study long-term, it is often best to start in the Acceleration Program Format 1 and then shift to the AIJP or AJSP formats later. This is particularly the case if you are starting your studies in April and are aiming to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in December. (2) If you enrol in the Acceleration Program for 3 months and decide DURING your first week to switch to the AIJP or AJSP only, then you are usually able to do so under the following conditions:
b) You have met the entry requirements of the curriculum of the program you wish to transfer to (especially regarding AJSP). c) Please note that the balance of your tuition will be refunded to you with the exception of a 10,500 yen transfer fee. (3) If you enrol in the Acceleration Program for 3 months and decide AFTER your first week to switch to the AIJP or AJSP, then you are able to do so under the following conditions:
b) You have met the entry requirements of the curriculum of the program you wish to transfer to. c) Your attendance rate is 90% or higher for classes attended in your current program. d) Please note that the unused balance of your tuition will be refunded to you with the exception of a 21,000 yen transfer fee. (Please read the refund policy for full information on refunds) Please browse through the Frequently Asked Questions regarding program fees.
