Nagoya Airport None of the 3 major international airports are too far away from Okazaki, however the superb new Nagoya Airport (Code = NGO, called "Nagoya", "Centrair", "Chubu" or "Central Japan International Airport" depending on who you are talking to) is easily the most convenient and is usually cheaper than the other options because you do not need to pay the extra train fares. This new airport opened in 2005 and is very easy to use. *ALL* international and domestic flights into Nagoya use the new airport.
Yamasa can provide either a free bus transfer (using the hourly airport limousine service, Yamasa will reimburse you for the 1700 yen fare on arrival in Okazaki) or provide an optional airport pickup service if you arrive at Centrair/Nagoya Airport. The airport pickup service requires payment in advance (credit card). Please accept our apologies for not being able to meet you at the more distant airports.
Regardless of whether you request the airport pickup service or prefer the free bus transfer, we will need to know the day of your arrival, the flight number and arrival time. Please register your arrival details.
As of July 2005, the trains from Narita airport to Okazaki cost between JPY9,870 and JPY13,180 (conversion), you would need to get a large discount on a flight to either Tokyo (or Osaka) before they became cheaper in terms of the total cost of getting to Okazaki. Many train stations do not have elevators and require a lot of walking, so luggage may also be a problem if you arrive at one of the more distant airports. If it is possible to arrive via Nagoya this is your best option. If you need to arrive via Tokyo or Osaka try to arrive 2 days before you course commences.
