As no two students are the same, Yamasa caters for the wide range of customer needs by providing several quality student accommodation options as well as offering the opportunity to experience Japanese homelife through the homestay program. For the University Japanese Program we recommend a homestay, however if you prefer, we can also provide apartment or dormitory accommodation, all within walking distance of the campus so that you don't need to budget for commuting costs. Student Accommodation: All student accommodation options include cooking facilities for self catering. The studio apartments (Yamasa Villa I, III, IV, V, Residence Hane, U & K, Residence L 2DK & 3DK) and dormitory accommodation such as the Student Village and Yamamoto House offer privacy and comfort, are furnished, have good facilities, and good security. All have fiber optic internet connections. Studio apartments are the recommended accommodation for couples, mature age students, and for those with special dietary requirements. In the case of couples, it is usually possible for a discount to be obtained if the duration of residence is the same for both. If applying as a couple, please send an email to Admissions after your complete your application forms. Single room hotel accommodation is also possible if preferred. Homestays:
One advantage of studying in Okazaki is that it is a city with a long history that has also kept its traditions and heritage. You can experience the true culture of Japanese family life, increasingly hard to experience in the larger metropolitan cities. Many students who have experienced the homestay program at Yamasa continue to maintain close friendships with their Japanese family.
Most families will be able to provide a single room, and most involve commutes not exceeding 35 minutes. The average commuting fare (for those beyond bicycle distance) is about 600 yen per day
for the bus or train. In the rare event that your commute costs 1000 yen or more per day, then Yamasa will subsidize the cost by refunding to you the amount that exceeds the 1000 yen cap.
NOTE: Early application is advised and homestays are allocated on a first come-first served basis. The search for a homestay does not begin until AFTER you have remitted your program fees.
