  • To succeed in Japanese business and in professional networks, the ability to speak and understand spoken Japanese is not enough, regardless of whether you have attained Level 1 of the JLPT or not. Similarly, the acquisition alone of the specialized vocabulary of your profession is not enough.

This innovative business Japanese program is designed to help you learn appropriate Japanese for a wide range of negotiation and management situations, give you full command of keigo, both in terms of face-to-face and telephone skills, and through intensive role playing exercises give you the confidence you need to operate successfully in a professional Japanese language speaking workplace or environment.

The Japanese for Business and Professional Purposes curriculum was designed by highly experienced hand-picked faculty, with the specific aim of assisting learners of the Japanese language to participate effectively in Japanese language workplaces and professional environments. All lessons are conducted entirely in Japanese, with a specifically designed preparation curriculum (known as the "yobi course") available for those who need extra review.

The maximum class size is 6, the program fee includes all tuition, learning materials, seminars and field trips. All lessons, seminars and role play exercises are video recorded to improve feedback and review. All participants in the program receive individual attention from highly qualified and experienced advisors.

Participants in the program are advised to bring a computer with them (PCs may also be rented), interactive whiteboards are in use, and additional learning support is provided via Yamasa databases and online learning systems. The classrooms are modern, and tea and coffee is available in the classrooms (designed as offices, with telephones installed for use in the exercises etc). Some business experience (either in Japan or in your own or a 3rd country) is helpful, but is not a pre-requisite for participation in the JBPP.

This is a serious and demanding program, and we are confident that it is the most carefully developed, and most comprehensive and practical Business Japanese Program on offer by any accredited Institute or University in Japan.

For more information about the above, please read the outline. Students interested in programs in July-August, may also be interested in the Summer Business Japanese Internship.
