    "AJSP Plus" Tuition fees:

Option A: Customized lessons - These are Private lessons. Advanced students are unable to enrol in the Computer Aided Language Learning (CALL) Seminars.

You can choose up to 5 Private lessons per week. The schedule run for 10 weeks per quarter, starting the week after commencement. These classes are provided at a subsidized low cost, with the cost of private lessons reduced to 3300 yen per class. These classes are scheduled from either 13:40pm or 14:40pm on weekdays and are scheduled so that they do not clash with your elective classes.

Option B: Field trip - Offered at the end of each academic quarter.

Each field trip is conducted in a small group (usual maximum number of participants is 10 per qualified teacher and guide), from the day after classes finish at the end of an academic quarter. You can choose either 3 days (38,100 yen) or 5 days (68,000 yen).

    Option C: Culture Seminars.

This option includes "hands on" Culture seminars such as music (learning to play shamisen & koto), traditional cooking techniques, dance, ceramics and other courses. Each course is held twice a week from 3:40pm for 2 hours each time. The courses run for 6 weeks, and are held once per quarter, participation fee is 37,800 yen. Available for beginners to advanced. Option C students are also able to do Options A and B, but not D due to timetable considerations.

Option D: JBPP (Japanese for Business and Professional Purposes).

Available for students at intermediate level and above, the JBPP curriculum is now offered in a part-time 5 class per week format, for 10 weeks per quarter. Most of the students (maximum of 8 per class) enrolling in this option are already enrolled at Yamasa, but the program is open (via an online test, online listening test, and skype interview) to any applicant with the pre-requisites. The cost per quarter is 92,100 yen, including textbooks. Please note that bringing a laptop computer with you is strongly advised for participants in this option. This option can be combined with Options A and B, but not C.

NOTE 1: *For student visa information, please read carefully through the visa requirements section.

NOTE 2: There is no application fee if you are enrolling for 1 quarter only, or if you do not require a student visa.

NOTE 3: The application fee covers most of the costs incurred by Yamasa in obtaining the student visa. In some cases (depending on the amount of translations required etc) it costs as much as 60,000 yen in time & other costs for Yamasa to process your application - However even if processing your visa incurs costs well in excess of 21000 yen, you will NOT be required to make any additional payments.

NOTE 4: Students requiring a student visa are usually required to enrol for a minimum of 2 quarters (6 months). If your university or other scheduling requirements are such that you need to enroll for longer than 1 quarter but are not able to enroll for a full two quarters then please contact Mr Declan Murphy (Director of the International Office) at Admissions as soon as possible and explain your situation.

NOTE 5: In the case of a student visa, there is no late application fee simply because it is impossible to obtain a student visa after the deadline. This deadline is decided by the Immigration Bureau each year (it frequently differs each year with little prior notice) and is beyond our control. To avoid disappointment, we strongly advise submitting your completed student visa application kit as early as possible - even 6 months in advance is no problem.

NOTE 6: In the case of a student applying for the program for 1 academic quarter only, or in any other cases where a student visa is not necessary, it is sometimes possible to apply for the program after the deadline (42 days prior to commencement). In such cases there is a 10,500 yen late application fee, which covers some of the costs involved. Please note that if the program is full and your application cannot be accepted, then we will not charge your credit card for the fee (or in the case of a bank trasfer, will return the payment). As a general rule, there are usually 3-5 places left each quarter due to last minute cancellations - however this does vary from quarter to quarter and language quotas will be still apply - please read the file regarding selection policies. If you have any questions please contact Mr Declan Murphy (Director of the International Office) at Admissions as soon as possible.

    Information regarding deposits:

NOTE 7: If you are applying for a student visa then you only need to pay the application fee of 21000 yen. A successful application secures your position in the program (subject to the visa being approved by the Immigration Bureau). You do not need to pay a deposit. You do not need to pay any tuition until after your certificate of eligibility (see visa information section below) has been confirmed.

NOTE 8: If you DO NOT need a student visa then you will need to complete your program applications at least 42 days prior to commencement, and pay for your tuition (1 quarter) at least 35 days prior to commencement. Many students prefer to secure their position in the program several months in advance via a 25000 yen deposit, and then pay for the rest of the tuition a few months before the program commences. The deposit is not an application fee and so if you confirm your place via a deposit, then you only need to pay the balance of the tuition for 1 quarter to complete your enrolment.
