Academic Programs

By Declan Murphy,
Director - International Office

Yamasa's academic programs include small classes and the most intensive accredited programs in Japan. The top priority is high quality - we also offer unmatched facilities, flexibility and choice - and as a non-profit organization, we provide all of our programs as affordably as possible.

All Yamasa programs, including extension programs, are serious programs for academically oriented students. However for the purpose of this catalog, we define Academic as being a program that includes strong pedagogical emphasis on teaching reading, writing and a thorough understanding of Japanese linguistics in addition to the oral communicative skills of listening and speaking.

If you intend studying at Yamasa on a student visa - then you will need to enroll in one of the Academic programs. Shorter term students (3 months or less) will be able to choose either Academic or Extension programs.

Our 3 academic programs are:
1) Acceleration (ultra-intensive) Program
2) Academic Intensive Japanese Program (AIJP)
3) Advanced Japanese Studies Program (AJSP)

Credit points towards Yamasa's Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma are awarded for successful completion of your courses provided you fulfill eligibility, academic and attendance requirements.
