SILAC Class

Aoi Hall is located at the western end of the campus and hosts Yamasa Extension including the Japan Discovery program, Internships, on-demand Private/Semi-private lessons, the Refresher course, and SILAC, amongst others. Aoi Hall is also home to the Online Center faculty offices, production base and the recording studio and Yamasa's radio station, along with the International Office. The facilites are also offered to local community groups, and the distance learning theater and classrooms in Aoi Hall are also used for teacher training in Yamasa's JLTEC courses.

Click here for photograph slide show of Aoi Hall.

The building has 8 standard classrooms, 4 seminar classrooms, 6 private classrooms and faculty offices, on the second floor. On the ground floor there is the Main Hall where most entrance ceremonies, graduations and official events/parties take place, the distance learning theater and office space (radio station and International Office).

There is a photocopier that students can use anytime. It is coin operated and at 10 yen/page is the same price as local copying facilities, but more conveniently located.

On the 2nd floor, the main wall serves as a giant noticeboard - in addition to class notices, there is information about parties and local events, tourist information, recommended restaurants etc. Much of the information is provided by the students directly. Aoi Hall is airconditioned, and includes wheelchair access.

There is a staircase leading directly to the Sakura House courtyard below. The flowers of the Sakura trees between Aoi Hall and the Multimedia Studio bloom each Spring (usually from late March, but sometimes not until early April), and from the second story the flowers are at eye-level. It can sometimes be very difficult to leave the flowers and move away from the windows and go back to your classes after your breaks.
